The Crawford County Speedway is located at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Denison, Iowa. The track offers racing on Friday nights on a 3/8 Mile Semi-Banked Dirt Oval. Denison is the birthplace of Donna Reed, star of the 50's television classic "The Donna Reed Show" and classic films such as "It's a Wonderful Life" and "From Here to Eternity". Donna Reed grew up in Denison and the Donna Reed Center for the Performing Arts sits on the historic corner of Broadway and Main in Denison, Iowa. At a ribbon cutting on June 25, 2004, the first exhibits of the museum were revealed to the public, including many of Donna's awards and honors, as well as personal letters from Donna's pen pal of 48 years, Violet Lindsay. The McHenry House was built in 1885. It is owned and maintained as a museum by the Crawford County Historical Society Crawford County Memorabilia, including the Academy Award won by Donna Reed for her performance in "From Here to Eternity are on display. It is located at 1428 First Ave. N. in Denison IA. Tours are available to the public on Sunday and Thursday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., or by appointment, Memorial Day to Labor Day.
The Neal Moeller Nature Center houses exhibits and various displays, all promoting environmental education. A full-time Naturalist devises programs to educate area youth and the general public on how to respect and conserve the environment in which they live.
